How To Get Rid Of Your Insecurities
Take Responsibility by Becoming Your Own Man
Are you your own man or are you living the life that someone else designed for you?
It’s okay, take your time and really give it some thought.
When you were young you probably said what you wanted to say and did what you wanted to do regardless of what anyone else thought.
When you were young you probably didn’t care what people thought about your opinions about someone or something. You probably even wore anything you could get your hands on without worrying if someone was going to make fun of you.
You were fearless and perhaps somewhat reckless as well. You would climb high trees, jump high walls with a big drop at the other end with your friends, and even make fun of girls while having a blast just enjoying the thrill of being a boy.
But then one day all of that changed.
One day you became much more self-conscious about what others thought about you. You decided that it wasn’t right to always state your opinions about something or someone.
You decided that your choice of clothing might not be appropriate around your group of friends since they’d probably laugh at your natural selection. You decided that being adventurous outdoors and making fun of women for the sake of your own enjoyment might be dangerous to some degree, and you’d rather not face the negative outcome of either.
You became someone else’s man, and in the process you lost your inner compass.
It’s okay.
It’s a natural process of male maturity. But the problem only remains when you fail to get your inner compass back.
Develop a Mind of Your Own
How sweet would it be if you were the kind of man that was completely free from the criticisms of others? How awesome would it be to be completely cool and confident in any situation simply because you had an inner locus of control?
What if you weren’t swayed to the left or to the right by popular opinion because you had an inner knowing that justified your course of action? What if you could act independently without having to doubt your decisions because people disagreed with you?
I think you know how powerful this kind of attitude is for a man to have.
Don’t get me wrong, having an independent inner locus of control and direction does not mean that you’re free from accountability or seeking the advice and wise counsel of others. All it means is that when you do seek advice and constructive criticism, you do so WILLINGLY by your own choice.
You submit to good advice because you choose to, and not because you feel obligated to in order to gain approval.
With an independent inner locus of control and direction, no man or woman can force you to do anything that you’re not willing to do. So if you realize that it is necessary for you to seek out advice, you must choose to seek it. If it’s necessary for you to get feedback on the decisions that you’re making, you go out and get that feedback.
